Donnie and Marty were great guys. It is really sad to see that they are both gone. I have so many memories of Marty and Don, partying, having fun, just being guys back then. Don will be missed.

I just received a call from Sandi David, Don's wife. She called me to let me know about Donnie's passing because I have been calling every few months the past year or so to check on him.  I think she would appreciate hearing from Donnie's classmates.  As can be expected she is having a difficult time. Donnie finally succumbed to a heart attack on Saturday September 12, 2010.  Her number is 847-991-4255  Her only request was the attendance at the funeral of as many friends of Don who can make it.  Here is the information published on the Chicago Jewish Funeral Website.

Hi all,

Deborah and I went to the Shiva and met Donnie's wife Sandi and saw his brother Barry and sister Sheila. I just missed Myrna. Barry and Sheila both suffer from the same disease as Marty and Don. Sheila's 27 year old daughter also has it.

It was sad.  However, on the coffee table in the living room was the Commemmorative Lincoln Log. Sandi explained how much Donnie appreciated it and looked through it smiling and laughing and just enjoyed it. She said he was embarrassed to attend the reunion since he would be in a wheel chair and on oxygen.  We did provide some happiness and fond memories for Donnie in the few weeks before he passed away. We all looked through the Lincoln Log and talked and talked. They were glad I came to visit and very grateful to all of us.

Myron

I remember taking Driver's Ed in summer school with both Don and Marty. (plus someone else who I can't remember)  What a blast!! The two of them had me literally rolling on the floor at times... truly a magical summer!!

So sad to know that both of them are gone now... very tragic!!!
